Bank Holiday Boot Sales Dates

Spring and Summer Bank Holiday Boot Sale Dates for 2012

*There is an extra Bank Holiday this Year for the Queens Diamond Jubilee on Tuesday the 5th of June!

  • New Year Holiday      January 2
  • Good Friday             April 6
  • Easter Monday         April 9
  • Early May Bank         May 7
  • Spring Bank Holiday    June 4
  • Diamond Jubilee     June 5
  • Summer Bank Holiday August 27
  • Christmas Day           December 25
  • Boxing Day             December 26

Some of the best and busiest car boot sales are held on Bank Holidays. Grin

Also because many people are away from work you get many non regular boot sale sellers as well as buyers looking for a day out.

Because of this you tend to get new boot sale sellers who just want to clear out there stuff that's gathering dust, or help raise a little extra cash from there unwanted goods.  These people on the whole are excellent booter's as they do not really want to take anything home, as they wont be back the next weekend as regular Booter or a Boot Sale Trader would.

I have found that most reasonable offers are accepted, or they are after a bit of haggling Smiley

The Number One piece of advice is Be Happy, the sky is blue (well sometimes) the birds are singing and you are at a boot sale eager with anticipation of what you might find, smile and be pleasant with people Grin, there is nothing worse than aggressive, Miserable or rude Sellers or Buyers!

I am certain by simply Smiling and just asking how is the stall going etc, I have got a better price on a purchase, and remember manners cost nothing! Roll Eyes

And if you decide an item is too expensive - Make an offer (And then make sure you Show Them The Money!) if it is not enough always part with a "Thank You, but I will have a think about it", do remember though that if you do walk away it could have been sold by the time you have changed your mind!.

But if you do go back they will remember that you were a polite and friendly buyer, and will be more inclined to offer you a deal  Grin

Bank Holiday Boot Sales Advice for grabbing the best bargains!

  • Get there early, Remember The Early Bird catches the worm, or in this case you get a good chance of getting a bargain item, Remember the best bargains will be gone once a hundred or so buyers have walked past the tables
  • Always haggle (you cant do it in Tesco's but haggling is part of car boot sales! have a go) BUT always Haggle in a friendly way! (DONT BE AGRESSIVE) Be polite and friendly!
  • Look Under things - Have a Rummage (I have found some great items buried under other goods, or Under the Table on the floor or in a box of items, someone else's junk might be your Treasure so keep em peeled Shocked
  • Always carry plenty of spare change and take a little extra cash - as you really dont want to miss out on that super bargain for want of a few pounds. Undecided
  • Take some batteries with you, and maybe a pair of headphones just gather whats in the house - that way if you buy electronics you can check it with your own batteries to see if the item is in working order. The amount of times I have seen MP3 players or portable radios without headphones and other electronic items without batteries - if you can check it does indeed work you might be able to grab a real bargain!

  • Take a large strong carrier bag or like me use a large rucksack as you dont want to be walking round a huge field trying not to drop all you Boot Sale Booty! Wink its a chore to walk back to your car if you aren't finished looking around a large boot sale!

With the above tips and a bit of luck everyone should have a good chance to bag a bargain at the Bank Holiday Boots. Cheesy

Good Luck!

Lets hope for Sunny Days - Don't Forget the Hat and Sun Cream. Cool
